Albertsons Cos. Inc. (NYSE: ACI) scored a legal win in its attempt to issue a special dividend ahead of its $25 billion sale to Kroger Co (NYSE: KR). Last week, King County (Washington) Superior Court Judge Ken Schubert ruled against Attorney General Bob Ferguson's lawsuit, backed by Oregon's attorney general, to block Albertsons from issuing the $4 billion special payment to its shareholders. Though, it will remain in effect until Dec. 19, as Ferguson's office appeals to the Washington State Supreme Court.
