Eddy's Hair Braiding in Washington, District of Columbia

DO. NOT. DO IT. I was nervous to get my hair done from Eddy because all of the reviews are old. But the price was cheaper than other salons, so I tried to save a buck. Red flag. Big mistake. 1st strike: There are two different addresses listed under this business on Google and the business' social media sites. The correct address is Thayer Ave in Silver Spring. So, naturally, I was confused and went to the wrong address on the day of my appointment. A good business owner should have 1) confirmed the correct address with me once I made my appt and 2) updated the info on Google!!! STRIKE ONE. 2nd strike: Once I realized I was lost, I called the owner's number to confirm what the address was. A young boy answers the phone, seemingly just waking from a nap. "Hello." "...Hi...is this Eddy's Hair Braiding?" "She's not here." Umm...okay. I tell him I have an appointment shortly and I need the address. Sounding annoying, he tells me the address. I ask if he could text it to me because I didn't understand what he was saying. He never texted me the address. If I didn't do some quick searching, I would have been stuck on the side of the road for who knows how long. Why would you have this number listed under your business if your son, or whoever, is answering the phone rudely and unprofessionally? STRIKE TWO. 3rd strike: My hair. If I had to describe the job in 3 words it would be: lazy, sloppy and inconsistent. The style I got was something I've never gotten before--basically curly braids. I showed a picture of what I wanted. I made sure to describe EXACTLY what I wanted. Not only did she not do my hair like I asked, she did a HORRIBLE job with her alterations to the style. She did the braids at least 3 different ways throughout my hair. She braided my own hair and had it OUT and basically fixed the curly hair so it came out of the beginning of my own hair...THAT WAS OUT. I wanted my hair braided INTO THE BRAIDING HAIR--you know, the normal way braids go. My hair is short, so she did a good job covering the crapy mess she did. She is so lucky I didn't inspect my hair when she was done because she wouldn't have gotten a dime...but I was so desperate to have a protective style and to get out of there because on top of all this, she was SLOW AS HELL. Listen, I'm not one to write reviews, good or bad. So I want whoever is reading to understand what a terrible job she did with my hair. I'm all for supporting black business, especially black women, but please save your money and your hair and find a better stylist. The cheaper price is NOT worth it.
